Lunch Picnic

A few weeks ago, we had an indoor picnic. Instead of serving lunch on individual plates, I got creative and used a divided serving/storage tray. I put a variety of lunch foods in each section and set it on the floor on our picnic blanket and let the girls eat. They loved it!

We had: Cheese-Its, raisins, pretzels, cheese, cucumbers, peanut butter/jelly sandwiches, and jelly sandwiches.

Next time your bored with your same old lunch routine. Try this. The girls ate better and behaved better at lunch. I'm thinking tomorrow we'll have to do this as well. Maybe it will be nice enough we can go outside this time.

That's genius - I just need to find a tray like that now!

Alexia - I've seen people use muffin tins filled with different finger foods. Maybe you could try that.

We used this tray again on Friday and it was empty by the end of lunch. PB & J sandwiches, Jelly sandwiches, cheetoes, pickles, raisins, cheese, and pears. the weather was nice enough for eating outside Fri. The girls enjoyed an entire day outside.

What a fun aunt you are!

My 2-year-old loves that kind of thing.

In fact, some of her favorite lunches turn out to be on the days when I can't think of anything to make so I just put out "a little of this and a little of that" (berries, grapes, cheese cubes, pretzels, crackers and peanut butter, etc.). :)
