Young at Heart

What brings out the kid in me? My niece definitely keeps me connected with my inner childhood. I love to see things they way she sees them and experience amazing wonders for the first time just as she is.

Finding ants on a stump and watching them scurry back and forth kept her entertained as a 2 year old. Now she will have nothing to do with them and will run away screaming when she sees one.

But let her dig in the dirt and she will be happy for the rest of the day. Especially if she finds a big fat worm to hold, and cuddle and find a new home for. Getting dirty was one of my favorite past times as a child as well. The smell and feel of dirt between my fingers brings back wonderful memories.

I love to go exploring with her and discover fish swimming in a stream or the perfect rock that makes a *shplunk* sound as it splashes in the water.

Or tasting those first snowflakes on the ground that tickle your face and melts on your tongue.

There is nothing better than running as fast as you can and feeling like you can fly and then actually flying in the air with the help of balancing on someones feet. I can fly! Listening to my niece's imagination brings me back to the times I used to pretend as well.

I hope she keeps me young at heart for years to come. And that I can provide wonderful memories for her to look back on when she is my age.

Dandelion Wishes.

She looks like a little "explorer." Kids do have a lovely way of instilling wonder in our hearts, don't they?
